Chem. Commun., 2013, 49, 11439–11441 (DOI: 10.1039/C3CC46912C). Amendment published 20th January 2014.

Following publication, we found that the copies of the NMR spectra for some of the new compounds in the ESI (pages S27-S31 for 5 compounds; 2aa, 2dd, 5ba, 5da, and 8ec) were manipulated by the first author to obscure peaks corresponding to minor impurities and solvents.

Unaltered spectra are included in the revised ESI. We declare that the changes do not affect any of the conclusions of the published communication, which has been confirmed by reexaminations conducted in our laboratory. We deeply regret that the chemical community was misled by this publication.

We have also made some minor corrections to the ESI as shown below:
Page S1: Title was revised to “Electronic Supporting Information”
Page S1: Table of Contents, Title of section 4 was revised to “Chemo-Selective Oxidation (supplementary data for Scheme 3)”
Page S1: Table of Contents, Title of section 5 was revised to “Procedure for the Onepot Conversion of Ligin Model 1ec (Scheme 3)”
Page S2: Three peaks of the 13C NMR spectral data of compound 3aa were not shown. The corrected 13C NMR spectral data “13C NMR (100 MHz, CDCl3): δ = 194.6, 158.0, 134.6, 133.9, 129.6, 128.9, 128.2, 121.7, 114.8, 70.8.” was added.
Page S11: Title of section 4 was revised to “Chemo-Selective Oxidation (supplementary data for Scheme 3)”
Page S11: Title of section 4.1 was revised to “The Markó-oxidation of 1ec (a supplementary experiment for Scheme 3-a)”
Page S12: Title of section 4.2 was revised to “Metal-free oxidation of 1ec (a supplementary experiment for Scheme 3-b)”
Page S13: Title of section 4.3 was revised to “Metal-free oxidation of 1ec (a supplementary experiment for Scheme 3-b)”
