To our regret we have noticed a mistake in citation in Fig. 4 of our original paper. Although an analysis has indeed been performed using experimental data from ref. 29 and 31, the adapted literature data shown in our figure are solely from ref. 31. More specifically, the wavelength dependent CD from Ref. 31 is displayed as the quantity ΔOD, which is the dimensionless form of Δε.

Below we plot the corrected Fig. 4 together with its figure caption.

Fig. 4 Comparison of CD in ion yields (squares) with circular dichroism (dashed line) from ref. 31. The anisotropy factor g (solid line) is calculated with digitized data from ref. 31. For better comparison g is differently scaled (right scale). All values are measured for (R)-3-MCP. Note that the circular dichroism and the anisotropy factor g are determined in linear absorption, while the CD in ion yield is measured using fs-LIMS.

None of the conclusions arrived at in this paper are affected by this mistake.
