The authors found, after this article had been published, that the compound [Mn2(mal)2(H2O)2(4,4'-bpy)]n (2) was described earlier in the year by Tapas Kumar Maji et al. (T. K. Maji, S. Sain, G. Mostafa, T.-H. Lu, J. Ribas, M. Monfort and N. R. Chaundhuri, Inorg. Chem., 2003, 42, 709).
