Photochemical reactions of (η5-cyclopentadienyl)bis(t-butylacrylate) rhodium with silanes: Dynamics of isomer interconversion via Rh(η2-silane) species

The structures of 1a1d have been incorrectly labelled. Correctly labelled versions of Scheme 1 and Table 1 are shown below. A paragraph referring to these structures in the Results and discussion section also requires modification and is also reproduced below.

Scheme 1 Isomeric forms of complex 1, only 1a1d are observed.

The ratio of 1a1d in the crude product formed at 243 K was determined by 1H NMR spectroscopy to be 1a : 1b : 1c : 1d 54 : 8 : 21 : 17, while in the recrystallised material the ratio changed to 74 : 11 : 8 : 7. This suggests that isomers 1a and 1c are unable to interconvert. When a recrystallised sample of complex 1 was photolysed in benzene, the product ratio changed slowly until it reached a photostationary state at 57 : 9 : 18 : 16. This matches within experimental error the ratio found in the crude product.
