The value of α for high-spin [Fe(L1)][Ni(dmit)2] in Table 4 was mis-calculated. The true value should be 106.9°, not 73.1° as given. The discussion of that compound in the Conclusion therefore needs to be modified; its saltrien ligand conformation does not remain rigid during spin-crossover.

The overall conclusions of the literature survey in the paper remain valid. There are large changes in the saltrien ligand conformation between the high-spin and low-spin forms of these complexes, which are difficult to accommodate in a solid lattice, and this contributes to the highly variable spin state behaviour shown by this class of compound in the solid state.
