Dielectric properties and structure of Bi₄NbO₈Cl and Bi₄TaO₈Cl

We have discovered that there was a serious error in this paper. The samples used for the neutron diffraction experiment were mis-labelled, such that the structural details reported for the two compounds are effectively 'swapped'. However, the samples used for the dielectric and SHG studies were correct. So, throughout section (ii) of the paper ('Structural characterisation'), all references to 'Bi₄NbO₈Cl' should read 'Bi₄TaO₈Cl', and vice versa. This includes the content of Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Fig. 8. The problem was not apparent prior to publication, as the neutron scattering lengths for Nb and Ta are virtually identical (b = 0.705 and 0.691 × 10^-12 cm, respectively). Hence the refined structural parameters for both materials remain valid, within experimental error, subject to the re-labelling suggested above. The authors apologise for this oversight.
