The authors would like to add a missing reference to the very recent work of Professor Uday Maitra, involving the formation of Au and Ag NPs via adding external reducing agents, as follows: A. Chakrabarty, U. Maitra and A. D. Das, J. Mater. Chem., 2012, 22, 18268–18274.
The sentence of “This is the first reported supramolecular hydrogel system capable of in situ formation of both Ag NPs and Au NPs,…..” in the abstract should be changed to as “This is the first reported supramolecular hydrogel system capable of in situ formation of both Ag NPs and Au NPs, without adding external reducing agents,…..”.
