The President of the RSC, Professor Jim Feast, an academic materials organic chemist, works as an Emeritus Research Professor in both Durham and Eindhoven Universities.  He says:

"The RSC is successful through the efforts of its professional staff and the many members who freely give their time.  These collectively provide expertise, guidance, support and services, and advice on chemical science issues.

Key to the RSC's success now, and in the future, is good communication. This means listening to and involving members in the running of the RSC.

My objectives as President include:

  • Improvement in communication
  • Giving members more autonomy to run their affairs
  • Advancing the chemical sciences by making the RSC more responsive to members and society at large.

As President I try to meet as many members as possible both in the UK and overseas but most people can now contact me via Email. I am keen to interact with members to hear about issues affecting chemical science or the RSC.

If you have any questions or topics that you would like to raise with me then please email me."

Comment: An accidental chemist as RSC president

Jim Feast describes himself as a dreamer, but is keen to put his dreams into practice at the RSC
