Atomic Spectroscopy Group

The Atomic Spectroscopy Group is one of the RSC's many Interest Groups. The Interest Groups are member driven groups which exist to benefit RSC members, and the wider chemical science community, in line with the RSC's strategy and charter.

Aim

The group's aim is to extend the knowledge, understanding and application of all aspects of atomic spectroscopy within analytical chemistry; and to encourage and assist all scientists, irrespective of experience, actively engaged in this analytical field.

Activities

  • Organising international conferences (eg Biennial National Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium (BNASS), which is held in different areas of the UK every two years).
  • Awarding the Thermo-Hilger Prize to a young scientist.

Allan Ure Memorial Bursaries

Postgraduate students, postdoctoral research fellows and scientists who have been in industry for less than five years, may apply for travel bursaries totalling up to £500, so that they may present their work at national and International conferences.

Get Involved

We are always looking for new members who are keen to get involved and to help organise our activities. If you would like to find out more please contact the Secretary.
