Atomic Spectroscopy Group


Aim

To extend the knowledge, understanding and application of all aspects of atomic spectroscopy within analytical chemistry; and to encourage and assist all scientists, irrespective of experience, actively engaged in this analytical field.

  • membership of just under 400; national and international scientists, researchers and academics
  • organisers national and international conferences, eg three day meeting entitled Biennial National Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium (BNASS), which is held in different parts of the country every two years
  • offers travel bursaries
  • awards the Thermo-Hilger Prize to a young scientist as well as the Allan Ure memorial bursary award. 

Newer members of ASG, e.g. post graduate students, post doctoral research fellows and scientists who have been in industry for less than five years, may apply for travel bursaries totalling up to £500, so that they may present their work at national and International conferences.
