Robert Boyle Prize for Analytical Science


The Robert Boyle Prize for Analytical Science is awarded for outstanding contributions to analytical science.

Sponsored by the Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund.

Rules & Criteria


  • Run biennially
  • Open to everyone without restrictions 
  • Candidates may nominate themselves
  • A two page supporting statement addressing the selection criteria should be submitted
  • Nominations open on 1 September 2009  
  • Nominations close on 31 January 2010 
  • Previous winners of the SAC gold medal are not eligible for this award
  • Prize winners are chosen by the RSC Awards Sub-Committee
  • Prize winner receives £5000, a medal and a certificate

About Robert Boyle

Robert Boyle (1627-1691) is widely regarded as being the first modern chemist after the publication of his work The Sceptical Chymist.

The prize was founded in 1981, its first recipient being Sir Alan Walsh in 1982.
