This award was discontinued in 2008. The lecture will continue and is now associated with the Natural Product Chemistry Award.
The Simonsen Lectureship was awarded for chemistry of the natural products.
Recipients were also required to give a lecture based on this subject.

About the award
The Simonsen Lectureship was endowed in 1957 by Lady Simonsen, to commemorate the name of her husband, Sir John Simonsen, who had served the RSC as Vice-President and Honorary Secretary.
