UK-India Symposium on Molecular Materials Chemistry 2012

10 - 11 September 2012, The Chemistry Centre, London, UK

13 September 2012, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK

Introduction

The first of its kind to be held in London and Glasgow, this free symposium was hosted by the Royal Society of Chemistry, Chemical Research Society of India, UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Science and Innovation Network at the British High Commission in India and WestCHEM. It brought together UK and Indian academics for a stimulating discussion on molecular materials.

For the first time, the RSC and the CRSI organised a symposium in the UK since both societies signed the cooperation agreement in 2007 and renewed it earlier this year. The purpose of these high-profile events is to bring together researchers from both countries and to facilitate research collaborations in areas from across the chemical sciences, in particular in the broad area of materials research.

The symposia was also supported by the Journal of Materials Chemistry, the RSC Materials Chemistry Division and the British Council.

Themes

  • Supramolecular Gels
  • Nanoparticles
  • Molecular self-assembly
  • Materials for energy applications
  • Molecular materials for biomedicine
