The Case of the Poisonous Socks

Professor Bill Brock's lecture will use stories from the history of 19th and 20th century chemistry contained in his book The Case of the Poisonous Socks, as well as others from his writings, to discuss why the history of chemistry remains an important resource for practising chemists and science teachers, as well as a way to provide laypersons with an understanding of the subject's central role in contemporary culture.
