Second International Conference on Materials Science (ICMS2017)

16 February 2017 09:00 - 18 February 2017 16:00, Agartala, India

Introduction
Department of Physics, Tripura University (A Central University) is going to organize the Second International Conference on Materials Science (ICMS2017) during 16 – 18 February, 2017. This conference aims to provide a forum for scientists, researchers and educators around the world to exchange state-of-the-art research and development and identify research needs and opportunities in all aspects of Material Science. The primary objectives of this conference are to provide scientists, engineers, graduate students and other professionals with a forum to actively engage in research discussions, and professional development; and create opportunities for the next generation workforce to develop their professional skills.

First International Conference on Material Science (ICMS2013) was successfully organized by the Department of Physics, Tripura University during 21-23 February, 2013. There were one Keynote Lecture, fourteen Invited Talk (Indian: 09; Foreign: 05) and 176 (Indian: 164; Foreign: 12) contributory presentations and 40 participants without paper. Eleven technical sessions were there. Click here to find details about ICMS2013 conference.

ICMS2017 will cover a wide range of interdisciplinary and current research topics related to Material Science. Research on advanced materials includes nanomaterials, bio-nanomaterials, zero bandgap materials, composites, surface engineering, tissue engineering and biomaterials etc. These materials have numerous applications in electronics, biotechnology, medicine and energy harvesting. The importance of nano-science and nanotechnology has been well documented by both industrial and academic communities worldwide. It is believed that breakthroughs in nano-science and technology will change all aspects of human life in such diverse areas as, electronic devices, energy, biomedicine, sensing, environment, and security etc.

This conference will include keynotes & invited presentations, contributed oral & poster presentations. ICMS2017 will provide opportunities for young researchers to actively engage in research discussions, information about current funding opportunities, new research interests, safety issues in nanotechnology and research ethics and professional development. There will be awards for best oral and poster presentation for research scholars. All presented papers will be considered for publication in a reputed journal / book after peer review process.

Department of Physics, Tripura University was established in the year 1990. The department runs both M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs. The department has the reputation of producing large number of NET/SLET qualified students several of whom have been awarded with suitable placements in public life. Faculties are trying hard to interact with the rest of the country in the subject by attending national and international meetings, seminars etc. At present departmental faculty members continued project having grant of Rs. 284 lakhs from various central funding agencies viz. DST, ISRO, CSIR, DAE, UGC. The department of Physics has organized several national & international conferences, workshops and refresher courses in recent past.

There are four research group in the department:

»Thin films & Nanoscience:
