The geochemistry and mineralogy of contaminated environments

6 June 2018 09:30-17:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
The aim of this meeting is to explore how understanding the geochemistry and mineralogy of the natural environment can help us to predict the fate and behaviour of contaminants, and mitigate their impacts. We would like to invite abstracts on the geochemistry, mineralogy and microbiology of contaminants including metals, organic compounds and radioactive substances, as well as case studies of contaminated environments.

This will be the first joint meeting between the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Environmental Chemistry Group and the UK & Ireland Mineralogical Society’s Environmental Mineralogy group. We particularly encourage early career researchers and students to submit abstracts on their research in progress, as well as those working in industry and dealing with contaminated environments. Our keynote speaker will be Dr Tom Sizmur (University of Reading).

Registration: Free for students presenting a talk or a poster*, £10 others

* A discount code will be sent after an abstract is received
