Introduction
A lecture to be given by Prof Sine Larsen (President of the International Union of
Crystallography & University of Copenhagen, Denmark). This lecture will also be part of
the Barkla lecture series and will be the first Barkla X-ray Lecture. Charles Barkla, a
student and staff of the University and a recipient of 1917 Nobel Prize in Physics,
established the electromagnetic nature of the mystery radiation discovered by Röntgen in
1895. "Impact of X-rays on Society”.
