Webinar on Evolved Gas Analysis (EGA) – Combination of Thermal Analysis with spectroscopic/spectrometric techniques

23 September 2014, United Kingdom

Introduction
The methods of thermal analysis are descriptive analytical techniques. With their help, the temperature-dependent changes in sample properties can be described. The underlying indicators are length change, mass change and energetic changes. To characterize them, the methods of dilatometry (DIL), thermogravimetry (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are applied.
Samples can be investigated in even more detail by combining these descriptive thermoanalytical methods with identifying techniques. Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and mass spectrometry (MS) have both been well-established in this field for a long time. Over the past few years, a combination of thermobalance, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (TGA-GC-MS) has also become available.
This webinar gives a brief introduction to the basics of gas analysis procedures and presents the most important instrument combinations used in the techniques known as coupling methods.
