49th ESBOC Symposium “Design and Engineering of Novel Biocatalysts”

Introduction
The meeting will take place at Gregynog (nr. Newtown, Wales) on 15th-17th May 2015, starting at 3.00 pm on Friday 15th May.

The 49th Symposium is entitled “Design and Engineering of Novel Biocatalysts”, and the Chair is Prof. Nicholas Turner (University of Manchester). The scope of the meeting will include strategies for protein engineering and novel applications of protein engineering for biotechnology.

Plenary speakers are: Frances Arnold (Caltech, USA), Andy Bommarius (Georgia Tech, USA), Uwe Bornscheuer (Greifswald, Germany), Murray Brown (GlaxoSmithKline, UK), Sabine Flitsch (Manchester, UK), Wolfgang Kroutil (Graz, Austria), Gerrit Poelarends (Groningen, Netherlands), and Tim Bugg (Warwick, UK).

This meeting is going to be co-sponsored by the BBSRC-funded Biocatnet Network (http://biocatnet.com/).

There are several slots available for short talks, intended for younger academics with research interests relevant to the scientific session, for which applicants can apply upon registration. We strongly encourage postdocs and PhD students to attend, and there will be a poster session at the meeting.
