Introduction

This meeting is open to anyone interested in attending.  Just over 100 years ago, Moseley undertook important, pioneering studies on X-rays, which led him to the discovery of the fundamental nature of the atomic number.  His work led in him being nominated for the 1916 Nobel Prize in physics, but his death in late 1915 meant he was no long eligible for the prize.  This event aims to celebrate Moseley's life and work, and the provisional programme includes six presentations on various aspects of Moseley's career, leading up to his tragic death in Gallipoli at the early age of 27.
