Introduction
Next steps for apprenticeships in Wales
THURSDAY, 9TH FEBRUARY 2017
CENTRAL CARDIFF
THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED

Guest of Honour: Julie James AM, Minister for Skills and Science, Welsh Government

With the new Welsh Government setting an ambitious goal of delivering an additional 100,000 Apprenticeship starts over the 5-year Assembly term, this conference will be an opportunity to discuss the practical challenges for government, employers and training providers in order to deliver this.

Delegates will discuss steps that can be taken to improve demand by more effectively promoting the Apprenticeship route to young people and also to improve supply by engaging more employers, particularly SMEs, in recruiting apprentices. Sessions will also include discussion on increasing the number of Higher (degree equivalent) Apprenticeships; the future funding arrangements for Apprenticeships - in light of on-going discussions over how the new UK-wideApprenticeship Levy will impact Wales - and also the next steps in the development of new frameworks for the standards and assessment of Apprenticeships in Wales.

We are delighted that Julie James AM, Minister for Skills and Science, Welsh Government has agreed to deliver a keynote address. Fiona Argent, Manager, Centre for Work Based Learning, Cardiff Metropolitan University; Jenine Gill, Founder and Director, Little Inspirations Day Nursery and a representative from the National Training Federation Wales has also agreed to speak.
