E-coli: cases, controls and common sense

13 May 2009, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
Food safety remains a major consumer concern and the subject of much media attention. This is particularly true for cases caused by E. coli 0157 which can lead to severe complications in high risk populations. The John Barr outbreak in Wishaw, Scotland resulted in 350 cases and 20 deaths after a church lunch. More recently this has been followed by a high profile outbreak in South Wales in 2005 when over 150 children became ill with one death.

The RSPH conference will bring together experts from industry, the legal profession and government involved in the issues surrounding the prevention and consequences of E. coli 0157 outbreaks, as well as its control and management.
