5 - 9 July 2009, Bern, Switzerland

Introduction
Biotrans is a biannual conference focusing on applied and fundamental aspects of biocatalysis and has evolved to one of the most important series of conferences in this field since it took place for the first time in 1993. In July 2009, Biotrans will be held in Bern, capital city of Switzerland. Again, 500 – 600 scientists from industry and university, among them many experts from different fields of biocatalysis, will meet to create a multidisciplinary forum for scientific exchange and education. The conference aims at getting an update of recent achievements and future tendencies in biocatalysis, biotransformation and biotechnology. The main focus of the next Biotrans meeting will be:
• Directed Evolution and Screening
• Metabolic Engineering
• Biotransformations in Organic Synthesis
• Bioinformatics, Modeling, and Mechanisms
