Teaching numeracy in Chemistry to improve outcomes in the classroom.

16 October 2019 16:30-18:30, Norwich, United Kingdom

Introduction

Overview

With the increase in mathematic content in the Chemistry curriculum, it is vital to ensure that all students have a good grasp of the main numerical concepts.  This workshop questions how we introduce numerical concepts, challenges thinking and explores resources and techniques to embed scientific numeracy in the Chemistry classroom focussing on:
  • Balancing equations
  • Mole calculations
  • Energetics
to ultimately improve achievement through better access to the curriculum.
