Introduction
The Schools Analyst Competition is an annual national competition coordinated by the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Analytical Division. On Friday 21st February 2020 the University of Wolverhampton are hosting a regional heat. The winner of this heat will compete in the competition final which will be held at Kingston University on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th June 2020.

The competition is an opportunity for students to use analytical equipment not usually available in schools, gain additional practical experience and apply their knowledge of chemistry to solve problems. Instructions will be given and students will be supervised but help from staff will be limited to ensure a fair competition. The competition is open to those currently studying AS (year 12) chemistry or equivalent. Each team will consist of 3 students from the same school or college. A maximum of 3 teams are allowed from each school or college.

Prizes (in the form of gift vouchers) will be awarded to individual students and schools whose teams are placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in this regional heat. Details of prizes can be provided on request.
