Peptide Therapeutics Conference 2012

12 - 16 February 2012, Lanzarote, Spain

Introduction
Partly driven by recent refinements in solid phase synthesis, a technology that emerged almost 50 years ago, there are now many opportunities to understand and exploit peptides, a significant class of macromolecule. The preceding decade has witnessed a resurgent interest in numerous and diverse therapeutic applications of peptides and peptide-based materials. Analyses of complex peptide mixtures are also fundamental to many studies of the human proteome predicted to accelerate the identification of new drug targets.
Many future developments within the peptide field and cognate disciplines will be facilitated by a closer cooperation between academia and industry. Peptide Biology & Therapeutics will, therefore, provide an important international forum to foster communication and meaningful collaborations amongst those many individuals engaged in activities such as peptide designs and synthesis, drug discovery, proteomics and the various avenues for therapeutic and diagnostic peptides and proteins. Hence, a major goal of this conference is to promote the open exchange of ideas and data between scientists and industry professionals alike. Ample opportunities will be provided for the illumination of cutting-edge science and technological developments through formal lectures, open discussions, posters and exhibitions.
Conference themes will include: Bioactive Peptides and Drug Discovery, Cell Penetrating Peptides and Pre-clinical and Clinical Developments. Within these themes dedicated sessions, organised around submitted abstracts, will focus upon significant topics that will include peptide ligands for G protein-coupled receptors. Innovation showcases will also provide a forum for a broader range of recent developments within this important field of endeavour.
