Water, water, everywhere - is it still safe to drink? The pollution impact on water quality.

22 May 2023 12:00-17:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
The ECG Distinguished Guest Lecture (DGL) and Symposium is our annual flagship event, and focusses on a specific contemporary environmental chemistry topic. Previous DGLs have included anti-microbial resistance, fuel emissions and nanomaterials. The Distinguished Guest Lecturer is a scientist who is recognised to have made a significant contribution to the field, and is awarded a medal.

In 2023, the Environmental Chemistry Group will host Professor Barbara Kasprzyk-Hordern as our Distinguished Guest Lecturer. Professor Kasprzyk-Hordern is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Bath whose Research Interests include environmental pollution and epidemiology, water quality and treatment, and analytical chemistry. She has a particular interest in water pollution and novel technologies used to decrease water contamination.

Among the supporting speakers at this event will be Professor Fiona Regan of Dublin City University whose current research interests are focussed on novel materials and sensors and separations for emerging contaminants.

Another support speaker will be Mr Rob Fryer, Chair of the Rivers and Lakes Swimming Association, and author of "2000 Wild Swims".

The event begins with a Networking Lunch at 12:00 pm in the Council Room of Burlington House. Please join us for this exciting opportunity to discuss a very hot topic and understand its implications.
