All-Ireland Award Symposium

8 November 2012, Dublin 4, Ireland

Introduction
The All-Ireland Symposium is a joint initiative of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland Local Sections, which was launched to commemorate the 2011 International Year of Chemistry. The initiative aims to celebrate chemistry and to foster new activities and collaborations across the region.
The All-Ireland Symposium committee will nominate two researchers on a bi-annual basis, one selected from each Local Section, who have contributed significantly to their field and raised the profile of the region. The research fields celebrated will be rotated on a regular basis. The appointed Chemists will be selected by the respective Local Section committees and will be invited to present their research at two symposia held in both sections.
The 2012 All-Ireland Symposium committee have appointed Prof. Karl J. Hale (Queen's University Belfast) and Prof. Donal O'Shea (University College Dublin) as the inaugural speakers. The second All-Ireland symposium will take place on the 8th November 2012 at University College Dublin. The full programme will follow shortly.
We hope that you will be able to join us on this momentous occasion to celebrate chemistry across the region.
