Bottom-Up Synthetic Biology: Towards Molecular Assembly of Biomimetic Functional Materials

8 - 9 July 2013, Newcastle, United Kingdom

Introduction
This informal meeting will discuss the role of chemistry in the emerging discipline of synthetic biology.
Focussing on assembly and function of biomolecular and biomimetic materials, themes include:
* chemical models for biological processes - replicating natural processes & improving on nature
* biological and bioinspired catalysis
* bio-templating of modern materials
* constructing novel artificial biomimetics
* modelling of biomimetic recognition and function at all scales
Participants from all related disciplines and at all career stages are welcome to participate.
