Declan Fleming

Declan Fleming
Declan studied Chemistry at the University of Bristol from 2000-2004 gaining a MSci (Hons) and went on to do a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) also at Bristol from 2004-2005.

He taught all sciences (11-16) and A-level Chemistry for 4 years at Hardenhuish School in Wiltshire (2005-2009) where he gained a reputation for innovation and creativity before moving to Pate's Grammar in Cheltenham (2009-present).

As a Teacher Fellow based at the University of Bath, he will be looking at assessment methods at HE level: how assessment strategies used in secondary education might be applied to HE and also how to best support students in preparing them for assessment methods traditionally used in HE. He will also be investigating ways in which to develop the use of VLEs within the HE curriculum.

Declan has an infectious appetite for science and enjoys sharing his love of it with others. His students learn quickly to wince when he grabs his safety goggles and sing along when he grabs his guitar. Outside the classroom, Declan has a keen interest in photography, music and paragliding.
