Analytical Division East Anglia Region
The committee for the Region consists of industrialists and academics. We have a range of ages represented, and have recently been able to recruit three new members to the committee.
The interests within the Region are largely related to Pharmaceuticals, Food, Forensics and Education and as such, many of our meetings reflect these sectors. The Region has particular experience in quality management issues and accreditation and has organised a number of successful meetings in these areas.
Where possible we attempt to hold our meetings at Thomas Graham House Cambridge and to involve other sections of the RSC where possible. We have held one successful meeting at the Chemistry Centre in London.
Over the past years we have held meetings jointly with the Essex and East Anglia Sections and the Molecular Spectroscopy group of the RSC, By holding meetings at TGH we are able to hold successful meetings with as few as 20 paying delegates. We, as well as many other parts of the RSC, are finding it increasingly difficult to attract large numbers to our meetings, so being able to run smaller meetings without incurring financial losses means that we don't get despondent and continue to offer a varied programme of events to our members.
We participate every year in the Analytical Division's National Schools' Analyst Competition holding heats at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, University of East Anglia In Norwich and Queen Mary College in London. Since the Competition was started in 1990 we have held two finals in our Region at the Universities of Hertfordshire and East Anglia.
