The Dalton Division promotes inorganic chemistry and science internationally through its current work in the following areas.

RSC Dalton Division supports attendance to XV BMIC, Angra dos Reis-Brazil

RSC Dalton Division Bursaries enabled ten recipients to attend the XV Brazillian meeting on Inorganic Chemistry, supported by The Sociedade Brasileira de Química and the Royal Society of Chemistry, in Angra dos Reis, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 16-19th August 2010.

Congratulations to the ten Dalton Division bursary winners who were selected by a Dalton Division / XV BMIC panel from an impressive list of applicants.

We were able to support delegates with a wide range of areas of expertise in inorganic chemistry and with different levels of seniority. In this way we have maintained the tradition of earlier BMIC meetings with contributions from both the venerable and the vulnerable!

The bursary winners were as follows:

  • Dr Nora Abdel-Kader, Cairo University, Egypt
  • Dr Ivan Castillo, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, Mexico
  • Dr Jack Clegg, University of Cambridge, UK
  • Dr Martyn Coles, University of Sussex, UK
  • Dr Ricardo Grau-Crespo, University College London, UK
  • Dr Jose Goicoechea, University of Oxford, UK
  • Ms Jin Lu, University of Warwick, UK
  • Ms Maria Prieto, University of Bath, UK
  • Dr Floriana Tuna, University of Manchester, England, UK
  • Prof Leon Visser, University Free State, South Africa

Thanks go to Dalton Council, the RSC’s Travel Grants Committee, the International Development Steering Group and to the BMIC Organization for providing funds for the bursary scheme. The RSC’s Dalton Transactions and the Sociedade Brasileira de Química’s Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society also supported the meeting.
