Coordination Chemistry Group
The Co-ordination Chemistry Discussion Group (CCDG) of the RSC exists to promote Co-ordination Chemistry in an international context. The CCDG seeks to support the scientific interests of those involved with any aspect of Co-ordination Chemistry, primarily through organising scientific meetings and providing bursaries to encourage postgraduate participation in meetings. In this way the Group aims to inform its members and provide a mechanism for discussion. The primary focus of the group's scientific interests tends to lie in the syntheses and reactions of compounds formed by the d- and f-block elements, although any aspect of co-ordination chemistry falls within the sphere of interest of the CCDG. Taking such a broad view results in the CCDG sharing some areas of common interest with other groups, particularly the Inorganic Reaction Mechanisms Group, the Inorganic Biochemistry Discussion Group and the UK Macrocycles and Supramolecular Chemistry Group. The CCDG seeks to interact with other RSC discussion groups wherever appropriate and, as an example, has held back-to-back meetings with the Inorganic Mechanisms Group.
CCDG members are drawn from further and higher education, and from research organisations which are supported by Government or by private industry. A significant number of Group members come from outside the UK. The CCDG holds an annual meeting normally over a period of two days early in July.
