Section No. 57

With over 600 members, this moderately-sized Local Section maintains a high level of activity. Spreading from Staveley in the south to Barnsley in the north and eastwards from the Hope Valley to Worksop, the Section comprises chemists in a wide range of occupations.

Most activities are based in Sheffield, at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. Both universities have very active Student Chemical Societies whose officers are an integral part of the Local Section Committee. The Section organises an extensive programme of scientific lectures, schools lectures and social events in conjunction with both these Student Chemical Societies.
