Awarded for his ground-breaking contributions to low-valent main group chemistry, specifically in the fields of p-block biradicaloids and multiply-bonded compounds of the group 15 elements

About the Winner

Alexander Hinz has been working as a post-doc with Prof. Jose Goicoechea at the University of Oxford since October 2015.

Born and raised in Germany, Alexander took his undergraduate studies at the University of Rostock, Germany.

Prior to moving to the UK, he completed his Diplom (German degree, Dipl.-Chem.) in the field of Ionic Liquids under the supervision of Prof. Martin Koeckerling in Rostock in 2012 and then joined Prof. Axel Schulz's group for a dissertation (Dr. rer. nat.) on the subject of main group biradicaloids at the same university. The acquired taste for fundamental research and highly reactive molecules lead to a smooth transition into investigations of heavier analogs of the cyanate anion that are still ongoing.
