About the Winner


Ning Yan joined the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS) as an Assistant Professor in 2012, where he established the Lab of Green Catalysis. He is also an adjunct scientist in Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*Star. His major research interest includes catalytic biomass conversion, green chemistry & engineering, and catalyst development.

Prior to taking his current appointment at NUS, he obtained his bachelor and PhD degrees from Peking University in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Thereafter, he worked as a Marie-Curie Research Fellow at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland. In recent years, he has held visiting assistant professorship or visiting scholarship in Kyoto University in Japan, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS in China, and University of Toulouse III, France.
