Rita and John Cornforth Award


The Rita and John Cornforth Award enables scientists working in collaborative research teams with both chemistry and the life sciences disciplines to be promoted and rewarded.

Rules and Criteria


  • Run annually
  • Open to everyone without restrictions
  • Nominations must be for teams, rather than for individuals 
  • Candidates are permitted to nominate themselves
  • Nominations open on 1 September 2009
  • Nominations close on 31 January 2010
  • Award winner will be chosen by the Chemistry Biology Interface Forum Awards Committee
  • Award winner receives £2000, a medal and a certificate    

When making a nomination, in addition to the supporting statement, please submit a two page summary document for the team which includes:

  • Team member details - name and educational/professional background plus any other relevant details - One or two paragraphs on each team member is suggested 
  • Details of the team's achievements
  • How the team fits into the overall business/department   

The aim of this document is to enable the selection panel to gain an understanding of the dimensions of the team and its achievements.


About the award


The RSC Rita and John Cornforth Award (previously advertised as Chemistry Biology Interface Forum Team Award) was established in 2008.
