The Soft Matter and Biophysical Chemistry Award is for outstanding and innovative research in soft condensed matter and/or the application of physico-chemical techniques to biological problems.

Rules and Criteria


  • Run annually
  • Open to everyone without restrictions
  • Candidates are NOT permitted to nominate themselves
  • One page CV for the candidate, which should include the details listed in the Information for Nominators of Awards, which can be viewed through the link on this page
  • A one page supporting statement addressing the selection criteria, which can be viewed through the link on this page
  • Work completed in the last 10 years will be given particular consideration by the awarding committee
  • Nominations open 1 September 2011
  • Nominations close 15 January 2012
  • Award winner will be chosen by the Faraday Division Awards Committee
  • Award winner receives £2000, a medal and a certificate
