Conference Bursaries

A limited number of bursaries are available to student members of the RSC and other RSC members in the early stages of their career (typically within 5 years of completing a first or postgraduate degree) who do not have support available from their employer or a research grant to attend major RSC conferences. These bursaries are only for centrally organised RSC Conferences.

Applicants must complete and return the attached RSC Bursary Application form to the RSC Conferences Department at the time of registering to attend an RSC conference. Alternatively applicants can complete the bursary section of a conference's pdf registration form, downloadable from the Application and Fees pages of the website of any major RSC conference.

Application forms must be received by the early bird deadline date for conference registration (usually two months prior to the meeting, but this may vary).

The bursary award in 2008 is £150 per recipient per conference, and funding is supplied from the RSC Travel Grant Scheme. Additional funds may also be available for specific conferences. See conference websites for details.

Applicants should be RSC members at the time of the meeting they will be attending and for which the travel bursary is being given.
