Fuelling the future

Headlights
This publication is based on a series of workshops that were held at the RSC in April and May 2007. It reflects a number of expert views from academia, research and technology organisations, the motor industry, the chemicals industry and other key stakeholders. This is a summary of those views which, alongside the King Review, aims to spark debate and contribute towards a realistic low carbon transport innovation strategy.

Reducing the CO2 emissions from passenger cars is an important part of a wider strategy to reduce emissions from the power generation, industrial, transport and domestic energy sectors.  The RSC has been actively campaigning since 2005 to demonstrate the vital role that the chemical sciences will play in the provision of safe, clean, affordable and secure energy.  The RSC's position is laid out in the report "Chemical science priorities for sustainable energy solutions".
