In Brief
The Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science, relayed a message from the Prime Minister expressing regret that he could not attend the 2011 Links Day event and that science plays an important role tackling global challenges. He also spoke on the impact of international science and the eagerness of other countries to collaborate with us.

As in previous years we had contributions in the morning session from both Government and Opposition, and both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Speakers
This year's Links Day was opened by the Rt Hon John Bercow MP, Speaker of the House of Commons.
Speakers included the RSC President Professor David Phillips OBE FRSC and the Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science.

The event is designed to attract a Parliamentary audience of MPs & Peers as well as a scientific audience.
Programme
The morning session was between 10am and 12.45pm and was followed by a Buffet Lunch.
Attendance was free of charge and was on a first come first served basis subject to the allocation of available places to all the participating societies.
