Fundamentals of Aerosol Science

11 November 2015, Birmingham, United Kingdom

Introduction
An introduction to aerosol science which is primarily aimed at students and early career professionals to develop their knowledge and understanding about this science.

As last year, the course will start with an introductory lecture from Professor Ian Colbeck, a long standing and founder member of the society. He will also introduce some of the fundamental mechanics governing aerosol lifetime, deposition and transport.

Subsequent lectures will explore the electrical and optical properties of aerosol, techniques for sampling and analysing aerosol and the thermodynamic and kinetic factors that govern the composition and size of aerosol particles.

In a final lecture, the science of inhalation therapy will be introduced, providing not only training for those working in drug delivery, but providing more generally an example of the way in which aerosols can be used.

Throughout the day, there will be regular breaks for refreshments and lunch, providing ample opportunity to meet colleagues and network.

Alongside our lectures, we will have a number of industry exhibitions who will be showcasing their aerosol related instruments and technology, with hands-on demonstrations during the refreshment breaks and lunch.
