Improving Benefits Assessment of Chemicals Control Policy

3 May 2016 10:00-16:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
A one-day Royal Society of Chemistry and NeRSAP multi-disciplinary symposium on the “Improving Benefits Assessment of Chemicals Control Policy” will be held on 3 May 2016 at the Royal Society of Chemistry, Burlington House, London. The purpose of the symposium will be to identify the state-of-play in regulatory impact assessment of chemicals policy and to improve the link between risk assessment and impact assessment which, is needed to inform benefits assessment of regulatory policy options.

The morning session will comprise a number of presentations on the themes of ‘going beyond traditional risk assessment’ and ‘approaches to valuation of health and environmental benefits of chemicals control policy options’. Real world examples will be used to illustrate the challenges associated with assessing and valuing the benefits of chemicals regulation. A chair-led, plenary discussion will take place after lunch during which participants will have ample opportunity to contribute their views.

One of the key objectives of this symposium is to bring people from different disciplinary backgrounds together, including economists, chemists, toxicologists, epidemiologists, endocrinologists and others with an interest in chemicals management. The discussions will aimed at exploring pragmatic ways in which different disciplinary approaches can contribute to improving practice of valuation of the regulatory impact of chemicals management policy options.

This event is invitation only, however if it is something you feel you would benefit from attending and have not received an invitation, please contact us.

The symposium agenda, with specific details of session topics, speakers and issues to be discussed will be posted to this page in the near future.
