This years Top of the Bench Thames Valley local section heat will take place during January 2021.
Given the challenges presented by the pandemic, the competition, which is set by the University of Oxford, has been designed to take place in each participating school between 11-22 January 2021, allowing teachers and technicians to schedule the competition as best fits their local policies on social distancing and social bubbles.
A team of four students, made up of two year 9, one year 10 and one year 11, will take on a construction and analytical challenge as well as participate in an online quiz. Participants will need to use technology to collaborate and complete the challenge and to present their findings and methodology. The winning teams will be judged on their findings, methodology, collaboration and quiz score.
