Annual Lecture - Cannabis & Cannabidiol: Facts, Fiction and Myths

2 April 2020 18:30-21:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
Chilterns & Middlesex local section's annual lecture will be given by Dr David Small, CChem, CSci, FRSC. Most recently working with Gaia Biotherapeutics LTd, he provided expertise on a cannabidiol project. In 2006 Dr Small was appointed a Visiting Professor to the School of Pharmacy at the University of Sunderland.

After many years of research and clinical trials, medicinal cannabis has been proven as a useful drug in the treatment of a number of diseases. There is also a growing body of preclinical and clinical evidence to support use of cannabidiol for many conditions, suggesting its potential role as an alternatve for treating challenging chronic pain or opioid addiction. This lecture will focus on the current state of research for cannabidiol, its chemistry and pharmaceutical development.

Refreshments will be provided after the lecture. Therefore, for catering purposes, please register interest with Dr Adrian Arnold-Smith, CChem, FRSC (details below).
