Seven Simple Rules for Science Teachers Series - Supporting NQTs

Introduction
A series of sessions based on the Seven Simple Rules  https://edu.rsc.org/eic/collections/simple-rules run by different experienced teachers/trainers especially for NQTs. 

The session leaders will be Dr. Nik Rorke Colyton Grammar School, Dr. Karen Marshall, The Ladies College Guernsey, Bruce Robinson trainer and formerly UTC Plymouth, Dr Chris Hall Churston Ferrers Grammar School,  Mike Howard Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dave Waistnidge examiner and formerly King Edward V1 Community College.

  • Wednesday 20 January 4-5pm 1 pre-conceptions- build on the ideas that pupils bring to lessons
  • Wednesday 27 January 4-5pm  2 Self regulation - help pupils direct their own learning
  • Wednesday 3 February 4-5pm  3 Modelling - use models to support understanding
  • Wednesday 10 February 4-5pm 4 Memory - teach students to retain and retrieve knowledge
  • Wednesday 24 February 4-5pm 5. Practical work - use practical work purposefully as part of a learning sequence
  • Wednesday 3 March 4-5pm 6 Language of Science - develop scientific vocabulary and support pupils to read and write about science
  • Wednesday 10 March 4-5pm  7 Feedback - use structured feedback to move on pupils' thinking.
