Intellectual Property Case Law Seminar 2022

Introduction
The RSC Law Group will be holding its annual and highly popular IP case law seminar on Wednesday, 2 November from 1pm at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BA. Our excellent speakers will be discussing recent high profile developments in the world of intellectual property law, with a chemical flavour. Our speakers will be providing updates from the European Patent Office and the UK Courts, catching up on developments for SPCs, as well as a looking at IP considerations in joint development and open innovation agreements. 

Our first in-person event since 2019 will be followed by a canape and drinks reception, giving attendees the chance to network in the great surroundings of Burlington House.

Provisional programme details are:

1.00-1.30pm   Registration

1.30-2.15pm   Michelle Pratt (Partner, Boult Wade Tennant) & Olivia Murray (Patent Attorney, Boult Wade Tennant)  – EPO case law update

2.15-3.00pm    Alexis Karfopoulos (European Patent Attorney, Croda) – IP in joint development and open innovation agreements

3.00-3.30pm   Coffee break and networking

3.30-4.00pm   Charlie Davies (Solicitor, Pinsent Masons) – Sufficiency and plausibility in the UK courts

4.00-4.30pm   Bobby Smithson (Partner, Appleyard Lees) – EPO Oppositions and Appeals: potential pitfalls for chemists and practice following RPBA 2020

4.30-5.00pm   Ben Heller (Associate, Kilburn & Strode) – SPC case law update

5.00-6.00pm   Canapé and drinks reception
