iDMT Learning Lab: Digitalising Chemistry

29 March 2023 10:00 - 30 March 2023 17:00, Cambridge, United Kingdom

Introduction
The Innovation Centre in Digital Molecular Technologies (iDMT) is hosting an in-person interactive workshop in March 2023 for companies in molecular sciences and manufacturing with an interest in digitalisation.

Workshop Overview
iDMT invites small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to a Learning Lab Workshop for Digitalising Chemistry. Throughout the two-days we will have interactive sessions, hear from members of academia, industry and other SMEs and discuss the emerging opportunities within digital molecular technology and their practical implementation. This will be an opportunity for collaborative learning based on real-life experiences, and networking with potential collaborators and end users.

Workshop Aim
iDMT Learning Lab aims to engage with SMEs who are at any stage in their digitalisation journey to explore the many facets of the digital molecular technology landscape. The two-day session provides an opportunity for SME staff to learn from leading innovators driving development. The event will incorporate:
  • Group-based sessions, facilitating conversations with other companies at varying stages of digital discovery and implementation,
  • Directed discussion to allow opportunities to discuss your product or service ideas, or to develop new ideas and gain valuable insight into risk mitigation,
  • Laboratory-based demonstrations, to see the implementation of lab-of-the-future solutions,
  • Seminars from leading innovators on key areas in the digital sphere, and
  • Informal networking opportunities, with fellow-SMEs, University of Cambridge academics, and leading members of the UK’s national landscape in the topics of digital, medical and manufacturing.
Draft programme
  • Wednesday 29th March
    • Opening and introduction to digital molecular technology
    • Digital maturity level review and outlook
    • Laboratory tours and demonstrations
    • SME panel discussion on how digital technologies can lead to new successful business models
  • Thursday 30th March
    • Introduction to high throughput labs of the future
    • Industry panel discussion to consider the industrial perspective of the importance of digitalisation, and challenges for SMEs to solve
    • Roundtable discussion on areas of impact and how to be competitive in this field
  • Seminars to cover the key areas of Data, Automation, and AI
  • Lunches and refreshments on both days, networking dinner on Wednesday evening

Other ways to participate
Whilst the majority of this two-day event will be most beneficial to SMEs, we welcome greater participation in the three seminars planned on the topics of Data, Automation, and AI.

We also invite any interested SME to contact our team to discuss specific project collaboration activities at any time.

How to participate
Please register your interest in attending the iDMT Learning Lab through Eventbrite. It is important to us that this event be an invaluable learning opportunity, which is why we plan to make the session as interactive as possible. To discuss the issues that are of most importance to the participants, we would be pleased to receive questions in advance via our registration form.

This two-day event is free to attend for SMEs based in England. We ask that you please commit to attending both days of the workshop. For any questions about eligibility please contact the iDMT team.

Individuals and organisations who are not part of an SME can also register their interest, and will be invited to attend the seminars.
