Introduction
This year's event, which typically brings together women in the field of chemistry, including academic staff, technical staff, and postgraduate students, is expected to have around 25 attendees. The event will consist of two sessions. The first session will be a roundtable discussion on the topic of "Breaking Barriers in Science", and in the second session, we will have a guest speaker, Professor S. M. Odeyinka, speak on "Building Professional Networks". The goal of this event is not only to foster camaraderie among women in chemistry, but also to bridge the gap between older and younger generations. It provides an opportunity for attendees to get to know each other, provide support and inspiration, and offer mentorship for those pursuing higher degrees.

The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) is hosting the Global Women's Breakfast (#GWB2023) in partnership with the United Nations Day of Women and Girls in Science. The purpose of this series of events is to create a robust network of individuals of all genders to address the challenges of achieving gender equality in the field of science. The theme of #GWB2023 is “Breaking Barriers in Science”. As part of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development, the GWB brings together individuals from all areas of science.
