Launch event for new water quality standard (BS 8552)

22 February 2013, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
Join us on Friday 22 February 2013 at BSI, Chiswick, London. At the launch of BS 8552 find out how to improve the monitoring of building services closed systems including heating and chilled water through the construction phase and thereafter.

BS 8552 standard will addresses the particular issues of sampling heating and chilled water systems in the buildings from construction and pressure testing, through pre-commissioning cleaning to routine operation. The purpose of such sampling is to establish the physical condition of the system with respect to suspended solids, bacteriological contamination and risk of corrosion throughout the whole life of the building to reduce the risk of corrosion related failures and maintain efficiency. In particular, sampling on completion of pre-commissioning cleaning is used to verify the success of the pipework flushing and cleaning procedures. Failure to achieve industry guidelines on system cleanliness can result in expensive remedial work and contractual disputes. Therefore confidence in the results obtained, which are crucially dependent on consistent sampling and analysis protocols, is extremely important to the industry.

Learn about how BS 8552 can help you to explains where, when and how to sample, what to analyse for in the sample and how to assess the results against industry guidelines.

Industry expert speakers will explain the rationale behind the recommendations in BS 8552 and how it is applied in practice.
