Pseudo-reference electrode

Definition: An electrode through which no appreciable current is allowed to flow and is used to observe or control the potential at a working electrode. A pseudo-reference electrode, such as a Ag wire, fulfils the role of a reference electrode but the electrochemical processes allowing it to do so are not well understood, in contrast to a true reference electrode.
